Wyoming Vets Take a Sentimental Journey
Wyoming Vets Take a Sentimental Journey
Monday, August 20 marked a special day for two Wyoming vets. World War II veteran B-17 flyers Paul Purvis of Cody and Ernest Casner of Cheyenne took to the skies in the B-17 bomber "Sentimental Journey", which was on display at the Riverton Regional Airport. Purvis was a B-17 pilot during World War II; Casner, a waist gunner. Interviews with both veterans will be featured on Wyoming PBS this fall as part of an outreach project sponsored by the National Center for Outreach and WETA in conjunction with the Ken Burns film THE WAR, which premieres September 23, 2007. Wyoming PBS has interviewed over 30 veterans from across Wyoming and will begin airing the interviews as short interstitial pieces beginning September 23.
