Wyoming Families First - "Turning Toward Adoption"

For the third program in the new Wyoming PBS series "Wyoming Families First," the issue of foster-to-adoption is examined. The series is a joint effort between Wyoming's Department of Family Services and Wyoming PBS to educate citizens throughout the state about resources available to them.

"Turning Toward Adoption" features families who have fostered and adopted children including the Lundahl's, a family of twelve kids: two "biological," four in foster care and six adopted children. We'll also learn about adult adoption as an innovative option.

"We spent time with families who have opened their hearts and homes to children in need," said Aliza Sherman, the show's producer. "At the end of this program, we'll list resources so individuals interesting in fostering and adopting children can find out more information."

Filming for the second segment was done in Basin, Emblem, Burlington and Laramie.

"We need more families willing to foster and adopt children and go through the proper training," said Rodger McDaniel, director of Wyoming's Department of Family Services. "This series informs and educates but we hope it also motivates people in Wyoming to take action and get involved."
