Daniel O'Donnell From the Heartland

PBS Special "Daniel O'Donnell From the Heartland"
Airs Saturday, March 2 at 6:30 PM

Beloved Irish crooner Daniel O'Donnell returns to PBS with his melodic voice in this new concert special filmed in Iowa, the Hawkeye State. Exuding the same passion and unique sense of humor that have fascinated audiences for years, O'Donnell sings, dances and charms his way into hearts with a mix of country, pop hits and fan favorites.

O'Donnell mixes it up a bit this time around by sharing seldom-heard renditions of "Distant Drums" and "Farside Banks of Jordan," as well as paying tribute to some of the greatest artists of all time with Loretta Lynn's "Standing Room Only" and Andy Williams' "Moon River." O'Donnell's renditions of these country and pop hits are sure to bring joy to viewers at home.

Of course O'Donnell doesn't forget about his fans' favorites when he opens the show with the uplifting "Stand Beside Me," continues with "Only This Moment" and "Our House Is a Home," and closes with the beloved "How Great Thou Art."

Interacting with the audience in his original and engaging way, the charismatic O'Donnell gets the audience singing, clapping and tapping their toes as he dances on stage. When the charming and talented Mary Duff joins him for a new duet of "The Blanket on the Ground," their friendship can be felt not only by those in the audience but by viewers at home. Duff steps out on her own with the up-tempo solo "Pick Me Up."
