Wyoming PBS service - Sheridan area
Wyoming PBS discovered severe damage to its antenna on Banner Ridge this past week, which is the location for the station's translator that provides an over-the-air signal to Sheridan viewers on digital channels 4-1 and 4-2. Since the Sheridan cable company picks up the over-the-air feed for the Wyoming PBS high definition channel, cable viewers may also experience some degradation in their HD signal.

According to Wyoming PBS General Manager Ruby Calvert, "We don't know what caused the damage - it could have been lightning or some other kind of static charge, but for now, we will replace the damaged equipment with an emergency antenna, which we will need to operate at reduced power until new equipment can be purchased and installed. "

In many cases, viewers may experience little or no noticeable change in their digital reception. However, a few viewers may experience significant degradation in their over the air reception of Wyoming PBS. The station reports that replacement of the antenna and transmission line will have to wait until summer so tower crews can access the site. "We regret the inconvenience and will work to restore the service as quickly as we can within the limitations of budget and weather," said Calvert.
