Wyoming public and private K-12 schools are receiving $106,217.75 in undesignated cash contributions, based upon their level of support, from the Smith’s Food & Drug Stores’ Earn & Learn program latest round of funding for $1 million.

Some of the schools that received funding are Rendezvous Elementary in Riverton, $6,962.79; Evanston Middle, $5,422.64; Poison Spider Elementary in Casper, $4,505.23; Harrison Elementary in Green River, $4,268.83; and Eden School in Farson, $3,831.48.

The donation from Smith’s is unrestricted and schools may select the most appropriate use of the gift. Eligible schools must be a qualified 501(c)(3) nonprofit, state-accredited, K-12 school located within Smith’s operating areas in Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Utah, New Mexico, Northern Nevada and Arizona.

“Smith’s Earn & Learn donation has made a significant impact for the betterment of schools in Utah over these past 11 years,” said Mark Tuffin, Smith’s president. “Students need every opportunity to become members of an educated workforce, capable of meeting the world’s future challenges.”

Since 2000, Smith’s has gifted $14.4 million in total to K-12 schools throughout the West.

To enroll a school in Earn & Learn, school administrators must complete an online application at www.smithsfoodanddrug.com. Smith's customers wishing to support the Earn & Learn program link their rewards card to the K-12 school of their choice, by logging on to their Smith's account or presenting a letter from the school with an Earn & Learn barcode to a store checker.

Each time the rewards card is used for a purchase at Smith’s, the school earns money. Enrollment in the program must occur at the beginning of each school year to be eligible and must be done by Sept. 30. For more information, call 1-800-444-8081, ext. 1463.

Smith’s is a division of the Kroger Co., one of the nation’s largest retail grocers. From its division office in Salt Lake City, Smith’s manages 132 stores throughout seven Western states.
